Copying Services
The National Library of Ireland offers a range of copying services and can supply copies of material from its collections.
Some material from the collection cannot be copied due to copyright restrictions or the condition or size of the item.
Material must be copied and used in compliance with copyright legislation. Copies are available for private use only. You may not re-use, distribute, or publish material from the NLI without permission. For further information, see Permission to Re-use.
Self-service photography
Self-service photography allows you to create working copies for private study or research using your own camera phone, tablet, or basic compact camera. You may use your own device to take digital copies, in accordance with copyright.
Protecting and safeguarding the national collection is a priority for us. Please follow all handling advice from NLI staff and observe the safe handling guidelines.
How to order copies
Before we can make copies for you, we will check the material to make sure that it is suitable for copying. Please complete the Copy Enquiry Form below. You can order copies of multiple items on the form.
We will provide you with full details of your order by email, including payment methods, as well as any postage or handling charges that may be incurred before the order is finalised.
Once we receive payment, we will process and dispatch your order within ten working days.

Photocopies and Scans
We can supply photocopies or scans of material in our collections depending on the size, format and condition of the material.

Digital Images
We can supply digital images of material in our collections. You will receive these images by email with an electronic download link.

We can supply high quality photographic prints with a matte or gloss finish.

Postage, packaging and handling charges
We will inform you of any postage, packaging or handling fees that apply to your order before it is finalised.
Payment
We will issue an invoice with details of your payment options.
Once payment has been received your order will be dispatched within 10 working days.
