Late at the Library: programme of free events

An after-hours exploration of the National Library of Ireland.

Join us every Thursday evening from August 31st for a series of evening events at the National Library of Ireland. All events are free to attend and will run until 9pm. The Late at the Library event series is supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and is part of the Night-time Economy Scheme.  With live traditional music, stand-up comedy, private tours, spoken word and literary readings there's something for everyone. Late at the Library - August 31st (7-9pm) (Waitlist only)

A journey through the venue and its celebrated spaces, using a combination of live literature, music, comedy and site specific performance. Curated by writer and poet Colm Keegan.

MC for the evening will be poet and writer Eoin Rogers, with live performances  from:

  • Donal Ryan
  • Geoff Finan
  • Kevin McGahern
  • Clare Monnelly 
  • Sinead White

Late at the Library - September 7th (7-9pm) (Waitlist only)

A journey through the venue and its celebrated spaces, using a combination of live literature, music, comedy and site specific performance. Curated by writer and poet Colm Keegan.

Late at the Library - September 14th (6-9pm)

Enjoy an evening musical performance with traditional group Aiteall in the atmospheric front hall of the National Library and take the opportunity to explore our popular exhibition Yeats: The Life and Works of WB Yeats after hours. You can also enjoy a visit to our Reading Room, which will be open to the public between 7-9pm.

Late at the Library - September 21st (7-9pm) (Waitlist only)

Clay and Eveline with live readings and music

Join Paul O'Hanrahan, actor, and Michael Holohan, composer and pianist, in a special dramatic and musical presentation of two stories from Joyce's Dubliners: Clay and Eveline. Both stories are set on the Northside of Dublin, especially the environs of Drumcondra and Fairview. Michael Holohan, born in Drumcondra, has a special affinity with these stories and has composed special music to accompany Paul O'Hanrahan's wonderful readings and dramatic interpretations.

Taking place in front hall in our Kildare Street campus the musical and literary performance will be followed by the opportunity to explore the iconic main Reading Room after-hours.
