Congratulations to all who took part in this year's Poetry Aloud competition.

Having the students return to the NLI after running the competition virtually since 2020 was a joy for us, and we were delighted to welcome the students, their teachers and parents back to the NLI.

Organised by the NLI and Poetry Ireland in partnership with University College Cork, this year’s Poetry Aloud competition drew 303 entries from schools across the island. There were 22 finalists from across 12 counties, from Armagh to Laois to Cork.

Luke Dolan from Glenamaddy Community School in Galway was named the overall winner of the Seamus Heaney ‘Poetry Aloud’ Award.

Other winners and runner-ups included:
Sarah Joyce, Intermediate category winner
Jack Monaghan, Junior category winner
Ben Campbell, Senior category runner-up
Maire Spaight, Intermediate category runner-up
Doireann Ní Chuignigh, Junior category runner-up
