An eight week online Genealogy Course with teacher Sean Murphy.

We are pleased to announce that the National Library of Ireland will again host an Advanced Sources in Genealogy Course this autumn, with Teacher Sean Murphy. The course takes place online via Zoom over 8 Wednesday afternoons from 2.15-4pm, from the 23rd of October finishing on the 11th of December.

As this is an advanced course, it is suited to those who have previously attended our Introduction to Genealogy Course or  who have substantial experience working with the basic sources in Irish Genealogy and compiling pedigrees.

The Advanced Sources in Genealogy Course aims to guide students in the use of more advanced genealogical sources such as memorial inscriptions, wills, deeds, the National Library and Genealogical Office manuscripts collections, newspapers, directories, occupation/Service records, and Landed Estate Papers etc.

At the end of the course, students should be able to use these advanced sources to further their own family history, where relevant, and particularly to research wealthier families. All students are encouraged to compile a portfolio of records and notes on the history of a chosen family.

The course fee is €100 and places are limited.
