No Time to Wait Conference Returns for its 9th Edition at the NLI from 15-17 October 2025

The three-day event, co-organised with MediaArea.net, is dedicated to exploring open media, open standards and digital audiovisual preservation. 

The NLI is delighted to host this prestigious event for professionals, researchers and advocates in the audiovisual archiving and digital preservation community. As one of Ireland’s key national memory institutions, the NLI has been at the forefront of digital collecting for over 15 years. The NLI’s multi-disciplinary teams — including specialists in born-digital archives, web archiving and digitisation — work collaboratively to ensure the long-term preservation of both digital and physical collections.  

Recent milestones include the release of the NLI’s first Digital Preservation Policy in 2023, the formation of a dedicated Digital Preservation and Repository Services team, and continued modernisations of its collections management systems. 

The Director of the National Library of Ireland, Dr Audrey Whitty, said:

“We are honoured to open our doors to No Time to Wait and the international digital preservation community. The National Library of Ireland has a rich history of collecting and preserving our nation's memory and by enhancing democratisation of the national collection through ease of access. This event offers a unique opportunity for us to facilitate vital discussions and knowledge-sharing on the future of open media and digital preservation.” 

Registration for No Time to Wait, available for both in-person and remote attendees, is now open. 

A call for proposals will be published in early 2025. Developers, academics and practitioners are invited to contribute their insights on open media and audiovisual archiving.
