25.02.25 – The National Library of Ireland (NLI) has received a special donation from Viewpoint, an advocacy group within Sunbeam House Services.

The born-digital video, recorded in 2022, captures members’ reflections on life during the Covid-19 pandemic as part of the Time Capsule Project, supported by the Creative Wicklow Grant Scheme.

The project brought together stories, poetry, songs and artwork, offering a powerful record of resilience and creativity during an extraordinary time. Speaking at the donation event, the Director of the NLI, Dr. Audrey Whitty, highlighted the significance of preserving diverse voices, “At the National Library, our mission is to preserve Ireland’s history in all its diversity. We are honoured to ensure that these voices—these personal and powerful stories—are safeguarded for future generations.”

The NLI is also archiving the Sunbeam House website, ensuring the organisation’s impact is preserved.

A special thanks was extended to the Viewpoint members, whose voices are now part of Ireland’s national memory, as well as to Eileen Kelly, whose interviews brought the collection to life. The NLI Digital Team was instrumental in making this donation possible. Viewpoint vice-chairperson Ed Byrne closed the event, reinforcing the importance of preserving these stories for future generations.
