In Person

Brigid is a multifaceted figure in Irish tradition with her feast day marking the beginning of Spring and a time of renewal and awakening.

From crosses to holy wells to Bhrat Bhrides, Brigid’s legacy in Ireland’s material culture is strong. Known as a saint, goddess, healer and nun there is much to explore when it comes to Brigid’s origins, legends, traditions, and sacred sites. Join folklorist Glynnis Cowley in the Joly Lecture Theatre in the National Library of Ireland to untangle who Brigid was, explore modern representations, and understand why we still honour her today.
